<strong>LONDON</strong>: Leading Australian tennis player Nick Kirios advanced to the semifinals of the Grand Slam on Wednesday for the first time in his career. He defeated Chile's Christian Garin in straight sets in the semifinals of Wimbledon. Romania's Simona Halep and Kazakhstan's Elena Raibakina also advanced to the women's event.

In the men's singles, Kirios defeated Garin 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in two hours and 13 minutes. Playing in an aggressive style, Kirios is known for his energetic service. He recorded 17 aces in the match against Garin (failure to return service to the opponent). He also broke Garin's serve three times. So he easily won the match.

Similarly, ninth seed Cameron Norie of Great Britain defeated David Goffin of Belgium 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. In the semi-finals, Norie will face top-seeded and previous winner Novak Djokovic.

In the women's singles semifinals, 2019 Wimbledon champion Halep defeated 20th seed Amanda Anisimova of the United States 6-2, 6-4. Also, 17th seeded Kazakhstan's Raibakina defeated Australia's Ayla Tomayanovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Halep and Raibakina will face each other in the semifinals.<h2>Jabeur's historic advance</h2>

Tunisia's Ons Jabeur became the first Arab woman to reach the semifinals of a Grand Slam event at Wimbledon. In the women's singles semifinals, third seed Jabeur defeated unseeded Marie Buzkova of the Czech Republic 3-3, 6-1, 6-1. In the semi-finals, she will face Germany's Tatjana Maria. Maria defeated Jules Neymar of Germany 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the semifinals.
