India has no plan to create a new IIT in the coming times. The Union Ministry of Education shared information in this regard on Monday. Union Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar gave this information in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha. He said, "Currently there is no proposal to establish a new IIT in the country." It is worth mentioning that IIT is considered to be the best institution in the country for the study of engineering subject. In this, students have to give joint entrance exam (JEE) every year for admission. It was announced to make IITs. Similarly, in the budget of 2015-16, it was announced to establish an IIT in Karnataka. Along with this, announcement was also made to convert the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad into an IIT. Currently there are 23 IITs in the country, with more than 16000 seats for undergraduate degree courses. These seats have admission for B.Tech, B.R.Ac and B.P.Lan courses.
