The Panipat Vigilance Team has arrested a lines-cum-clarker of North Haryana Electricity Distribution Corporation (UHBVN) posted in Sonepat district of Haryana, taking a bribe of 50 thousand rupees. The accused was taking money in lieu of fixing the electricity bill of the residential society. On this, the accused said that the society has paid more than Rs 70 lakh as electricity bill. The accused sought a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to improve the bail. The deal was decided for Rs 18 lakh on request. Out of which 2 lakh rupees were to be given in advance. The complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and lodged a complaint against the accused employee. The complaint had requested that the Vigilance team be from any district other than Sonepat. At this request, the high officials sent the Panipat Vigilance Team to take action on the spot. The team raided the presence of the Duty Magistrate under the leadership of Inspector Sumit and caught the accused employee red -handed taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. A case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Corruption Act in Bureau Police Station Rohtak.
