IPL 2021 Venues: Chennai

For only the second time in the last 4 years, the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host Indian Premier League matches. While Chennai hosted only one match when Chennai Super Kings returned from their ban in IPL 2018, matches were shifted out of the country to UAE due to Covid-19 pandemic last year.

However, Chennai will not play host to 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made sure no team gets to enjoy home advantage in IPL 2021, which is being held across only 6 cities.

Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bengaluru will be hosting all the matches of IPL 2021, which will be played from April 9 to May 30. Biosecure bubbles have been created at all these venues as the BCCI has strict protocols in place to ensure the safe conduct of the tournament in the wake of the pandemic.

Chennai will host the IPL 2021 season opener on April 9 as defending champions Mumbai Indians lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai will host matches between April 9 and April 25.
