We are just 2 days away from the start of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and the buzz around the 14th edition of the T20 league is certainly peaking. On Wednesday, decorated Olympian and legendary sprinter Usain Bolt took to social media, donning a Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey.
Having played cricket at school, Usain Bolt has been an ardent follower of the sport over the years. On Wednesday, he was seen sporting the RCB jersey and sent a message to the franchise, its captain Virat Kohli and star all-rounder AB de Villiers.
"Challengers, just letting you know, I’m still the fastest cat around," Bolt said in the post.
Responding to the social media post, RCB captain Virat Kohli said: "No doubt and that's why we've got you on our team now."
AB de Villiers too replied to Bolt's post, saying: "We know whom to call when we need a few extra runs!" Only recently, RCB signed popular apparel manufacturers PUMA as their official kit sponsors. Notably, Bolt, who went on to become the greatest sprinter of all time, also has a deal with the apparel giants.April 7, 2021
Royal Challengers Bangalore are gearing up for IPL 2021 with a settled core and some exciting new additions. Virat Kohli's men came up with an improved showing in IPL 2020 in the UAE wherein they reached the play-offs for the first time in 4 years.
RCB have been training in Chennai in the lead up to IPL 2021. The likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers who served mandatory quarantine period upon their arrival in the South Indian city have joined the rest of the squad in the bio-bubble. All eyes will be on Glenn Maxwell as the Australian all-rounder looks to improve his IPL reputation after having been bought tor Rs 14.25 crore at the IPL 2021 auction.
RCB will be looking to build on the good show and go a step further in IPL 2021. They take on Mumbai Indians, the 5-time champions, in the season opener in Chennai on Friday, April 9.
