IPL 2021: KKR's Rinku Singh ruled out with knee injury, Gurkeerat Mann named replacement

IPL 2021: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquired the services of batsman Gurkeerat Singh Mann at his base price of Rs 50 lakh after Rinku Singh got ruled out of the entire season due to a knee injury.

Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rinku Singh has been ruled out for the entire season of IPL 2021 due to a knee injury. The two-time champions have signed former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Gurkeerat Singh Mann as his replacement.

An official statement from Indian Premier League (IPL) has added that Gurkeerat Mann was acquired by KKR at his base price of Rs 50 lakh.

"Kolkata Knight Riders have signed up Gurkeerat Singh Mann as replacement for batsman Rinku Singh, who will be unavailable for the entire season due to a knee injury.

"Rinku, who made his IPL debut in 2017 has played a total of 11 IPL games. His replacement, Gurkeerat, last played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 before being released ahead of the VIVO IPL 2021 auction.

"Kolkata Knight Riders have acquired Gurkeerat at his base price of INR 50L. The VIVO IPL 2021 will be Gurkeerat's eighth IPL season," the official statement from IPL said.

23-year-old Rinku Singh, who represents Uttar Pradesh (UP) in domestic cricket, played only one match for KKR in IPL 2020. The left-hand batsman scored 11 runs in that match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Gurkeerat Singh Mann, on the other hand, featured in 8 matches of RCB in the last season. He managed to score 71 runs from them at a strike rate of 88.75. Overall he has played 41 IPL matches till date. Mann made his debut in 2012 while playing for Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings nows). The 30-year-old plays for Punjab in domestic cricket and is a hand off-spinner with 53 first-class wickets to his name.

KKR will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their first game of IPL 2021 on April 11 in Chennai.
