IPL 2021: Delhi capitals have provided a health updated on their left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who tested positive for Covid-19, and said that he is doing better and will be soon available for selection.

Delhi Capitals (DC) have provided a health update on Axar Patel, who tested positive for Covid-19 recently, and said that the left-arm spinner was doing better and will soon be ready to join the team.

Team's director Mustafa Ghouse added that the Gujarat-born spinner was into his day 10 of quarantine process.

"Ya, Axar is better. Saturday will be day 10 of his quarantine process. Hopefully 3-4 more days, a couple of negative tests and he will be ready to join the team. We are running tests on him over the next few days to know how quickly we can get him back, available for selection," Mustafa Ghouse told Sports Today in an exclusive interview.

Axar Patel had checked in the DC team hotel with a negative test result on March 28 but returned a positive result in his 2nd Covid test.

"He had checked into the team hotel in Mumbai on March 28 with a negative report. His report from 2nd COVID test came positive. He is in isolation at a designated medical care facility," DC had said in their statement.

Further, Ghouse informed that Axar Patel, who recently got his left shoulder operated, has got sensation back in his added. He hadded that a "gutted" Iyer is in constant touch with DC players and head coach Ricky Ponting.

"Shreyas is better. He has got sensation back in his hand which is most important factor after the surgery. He is gutted that he is not part of the team.He is in constant touch of the boys and Ricky. All we have to do now is make sure that he is on path of recovery and getting back to playing at the level he has been before," he said.

Rishabh Pant-led DC will be facing 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
