Delhi Capitals have posted a message for Shreyas Iyer and fans of the team ahead of their opening tie against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. DC, under the leadership of Iyer, made it to the finals of the IPL 2020 in UAE last year.
Iyer, who was made captain during the 2018 season, was ruled out of IPL 2021 with a shoulder injury. India Today had earlier reported that the star batsman would need at least 5 months to completely recover and get back to playing competitive cricket.
“You'll always be our Skipper Shreyas,” Delhi Capitals wrote.
“We will miss you dearly.”
They also have a message for the fans, “For you and for all our fans, the DC family will give it their absolute all in IPL 2021.”— Delhi Capitals (@DelhiCapitals) April 10, 2021
Shreyas Iyer underwent surgery to treat his partially dislocated shoulder on April 8, Thursday (April 8). Ahead of IPL 2021, he posted a picture of himself at the hospital bed after the procedure went successfully.
“Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time. Thank you for your wishes”: Shreyas Iyer wrote on Twitter.
DC, to be led by newly-appointed captain Rishabh Pant, and MS Dhoni-led CSK are all set to lock horns at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, on April 10 (Saturday).
