Chandrakant Patil, president of BJP's Maharashtra unit, has become a minister in the state for the second time. Chandrakant Patil (63), who came from a simple background, has earlier been the Minister of Revenue and Public Works Department (PWD) during 2014-19. He was a legislative councilor twice and became an MLA from Western Maharashtra for the first time. Chandrakant Patil was included as a minister in the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde on Tuesday.

Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil, born in a family living by selling tea in Mumbai Before making a place in the council (ABVP), he fought during college days. He also led the ABVP's Chalo Kashmir campaign to wave the tricolor in Srinagar in 1990.

Chandrakant Patil joined BJP in 2005 and was made the secretary of the party's Maharashtra unit. He won the election of Legislative Councilor from Pune Graduate constituency in 2008 and 2014. After this, when the BJP came to power in Maharashtra in 2014, Patil was made a cabinet minister. He had charge of revenue, textiles, public works department, cooperative and commerce department.

Chandrakant Patil decided to contest the assembly elections in 2019. The BJP made him a candidate in place of the party's then party MLA Medha Kulkarni from Pune city. Patil's belief is from Kolhapur district, but he never contested from there. He came in contact with senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah while staying in ABVP.
