Punjab government has paid only Rs 10.44 crore to PGI under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. PGI had about 16 crore rupees on the government. PGI had stopped treatment of patients from Punjab under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme from August 1, due to non -payment of this amount. Now about 65 percent of the amount has been paid by the government. This has been confirmed by PGI's Medical Superintendent Dr. Vipin Kaushal.

In August 2019, the Punjab Government started giving this benefit to 39.66 lakh families of Punjab. He said that the remaining amount is also expected to be received soon.

They are mostly treated in all three big hospitals in the city. During this time, patients who have cards under Ayushman Bharat Scheme take advantage of it. According to one information, about 2 thousand patients from Punjab come daily for treatment in PGI alone. At the same time, the rest of the hospitals also have a large number of patients from Punjab.
