Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has over the years gone on to become the leading bowler for Team India and the Mumbai Indians, made his IPL debut for the franchise on this day in 2013.
It was April 4, 2013, when the world got the first glimpse of the pacer as the 19-year-old made his debut against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He went on to have a great debut as he claimed 3 for 32 and dismissed Virat Kohli to get his maiden IPL wicket. Interestingly, for his 100th IPL wicket last season, Bumrah once again dismissed the RCB skipper.

In the match at the Chinnaswamy stadium, Bumrah went on to take the wickets of Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair.
He was the fast bowler for Mumbai Indians alongside Mitchell Johnson, Munaf Patel and Jacob Oram in the match. However, the Ricky Ponting-led side went on to lose the match by 2 runs.
Bumrah only played two matches for the Mumbai Indians that season and went wicket-less in his second game. But it kick started a great career for the young bowler as he played in almost all the matches for Mumbai Indians in the 2014 edition of the IPL.— Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) April 4, 2021
He is now the key bowler for the five-time champions and has taken 109 wickets in 92 matches with the best figures of 4/14.
Three years after making his IPL debut, Bumrah made the debut for Team India against Australia in an ODI in 2016.
Since then, he has gone on to play 67 ODIs and 50 T20Is for the country and bagged a total of 167 wickets in the white-ball format. In 19 Tests so far, he picked 83 wickets including five 5-wicket hauls.
