In Ludhiana, Khanna police have arrested 4 members of the gang selling the stolen mobile phones by changing the IMI number of stolen mobile phones. These four are associated with the inter-state gang. The gang leader Kanwarjit Singh alias Rinku lives in the Model Town of Sonepat in Haryana. Rinku is currently absconding. This gang changes the IMI number of stolen mobile phones and sells them at cheap prices.

After that, the same boards used to change their PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) by putting them in mobile phones purchased from thieves. After this, these mobile phones used to sell further.

Police has registered a case against them in different sections. SP Pragya Jain said that all the shopkeepers of the city have been ordered to keep a copy of the photo identity card of the buyer and seller of the mobile phone used. Those who are buying used mobile phones have been advised that they must ask the seller the box and bill of the mobile phone.
